#ClosedEyeGiraffe Challenge

“Finding Beauty in Brokenness”

My giraffe is simple. Wrapped in leaves, her heart is protected. Wearing a mask, she cannot smell nor speak, and relies solely on her sense of sight and hearing. Her power lies in her gaze, which pierces through the soul. With no horns, she evokes pure beauty, grace, and kindness. With no legs, her feet dance freely… free from the burden of supporting long limbs and thunder thighs, which usually corrupt the mind and eye.

An incomplete and imperfect sketch, but a work in progress, my giraffe embodies reality. Living in a world that does not know much about love at times, she meets this chaos eye-to-eye with love that overpowers and consumes all.

Sketching her with my eyes closed was challenging, but trusting my ability to draw blindly led me to a pleasant surprise. Losing and ceding control for a bit might have been uncomfortable, but nevertheless exciting, refreshing, and quite fulfilling.
