Owning My Story
Teetering between ambition and duty,
One day, certain about one thing,
And then the next, not so much…
Anticipating what’s to come…
Thoughts begin to accumulate and emotions follow suit…
In an effort to regain a sense of control, overthinking leads to thoughts materializing into impulsive behavior,
whereas others are directed towards prayer, meditation, and creativity.
What was mindless and thoughtless suddenly becomes mindful and thoughtful.
A lover of the arts and all things creative, the energy that flows through my body is now in harmony with the mind and heart.
In order to change how I feel, I must first change the way that I think, most especially how to channel my inner thoughts.
In moments when I want to stop, that is when I truly start.
Animated by how I treat myself and others, my inner life ultimately dictates what kind of fruit I produce.
Only by my fruit(s) will you know my heart.
Tough as it may be, I choose to acknowledge and own each chapter in my storybook,
so that my past — whether good, neutral or bad — can no longer define and hold power over me.
