Smite the Height!
Recently, I was talking to my friend, Sienna, and we decided to make a fear list because I realized a lot of my fears are stopping me from moving forward and living life to its fullest.
When I was a kid, the thought of being in tall places sent tickles down my body. I used to refuse to go on rollercoasters with my sisters, freak out during my trip to the CN tower, and choose the shortest cliff to dive off of when I had to (it wasn't even a cliff). When I talked to a friend, she made me realize that there's so much joy and freedom to spontaneous adrenaline rush moments. I thought to myself...why not try?
The first battle I conquered took place in Six Flags Great Adventure.
One of the idiots in my group took Jane and I to Zumanjaro thinking that she was taking us to El Toro (the wooden rollercoaster). Jane and I were mentally peeing as we dragged ourselves towards the Drop of Doom. Halfway through that torturous walk, the idiot woke up and asked, "Why is El Toro so far away from us?" Jane and I replied with, "Are you freaking kidding, you sucker?!" Left with no other options, I decided to get on this hell ride! Strapped onto my seat, I started hyperventilating. Suddenly, the operator waved goodbye and shot us up into the air. I swore my way throughout the one-minute journey upwards, and Sienna the idiotic but lovable angel kept telling me we were almost there but before I knew it, WE. WERE. DROPPED. AT 90 MPH. Well, there goes my underwear…
Cabigao touched down. I glanced over at Jane who looked like she got electrocuted to the max and Sienna was half-deaf because of my deathly scream (I never thought I could scream that high — it was ghastly). Then we pranced over to Kingda Ka — the rollercoaster that goes around the Drop of Doom at 138 MPH (😒 Sienna probably wanted to kill me and Jane... who, by the way, died a long time ago). Jane and I were feeling quite confident at the start and then boom went our confidence when the tallest rollercoaster in the world separated our souls from our bodies. It was so freaking fast and the first thing I hollered as the wind slapped my lungs out of my mouth was: "Who the heck can breathe on this?" To my dismay, Sienna and Jane were breathing just fine. Nobody responded... I guess you can't exactly meet the friendliest people in Six Flags (😝). Once the ride came to a halt, I breathed just fine and my soul slowly fell back into my body. Now that was the craziest ride of my life! The day went by in the blink of an eye and before I knew it, I went on all the thrill rides — even twice on some!
