To Heal and Renew Your Mind
Because I’ve never witnessed and attended a healing retreat before, I decided to participate in a 5-week long virtual retreat from August to September. The start date of this retreat was strangely in accordance with what I was about to go through, and therefore, exactly what I needed to be able to cope and transition into this new season of my life.
It was a very eye-opening and deeply personal virtual experience for me. Psychologists, spiritual directors, religious artists, theologians, and lay persons led meditations and talks that were inspiring and thought-provoking. Their vulnerability and availability certainly put the calm back into my life because of the sense of tranquility and community they forged virtually, which elevated my outlook over the past five weeks.
Pray More Novenas did a smooth and thorough job entering into the suffering of their audience. Their intention to transform how the attendees view their inner fractures and battles through healing and restoration filled me with so much hope for humanity. In a culture of deep woundedness, one that cancels and can be throw-away, it is necessary that we take a step back and listen to the wisdom of those who have learnt to overcome pain and trauma. Note that no band aid solutions are found in this retreat, only ways to openly and gently confront the dark and difficult places that rest in your mind. Like in exposure therapy, there needs to be acknowledgement and confrontation in order to overcome and be set free. It is about inviting Christ into those painful places, so that He can help heal and renew your mind and heart. He can make “all things new,” and we can “experience new life” through Him. Not meant to do this alone, you and I need friends, counseling and/or spiritual direction.
If this retreat seems like it would be a pleasant and enriching experience for you, you may still sign up and gain access to all the recorded talks at: https://praymoreretreat.org/ !
